About Us

STARM
Environmental Data Time Series of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region (STARM), was developed as a technology transfer product of the research carried out by the IDEAL center. STARM aims to make available to the national and international community the information provided by the platforms (moorings, cruises, meteorological stations and FerryBox) installed in different stations or vessels in the Magallanes Region and Antarctic peninsula. FerryBox is funded by the FONDEQUIP program (Fund for Scientific and Technological Equipment) project EQM 190013.

IDEAL
The Research Centre Dynamics of High Latitude Marine Ecosystem (IDEAL)is funded by the Chilean National Agency for Research and Development (ANID), through its Fund for Research Centers in Priority Areas (FONDAP). It is led by the Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), with partner institutions the Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) and the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) of Germany. Logistical funding for Antarctic research is provided by the Instituto Antártico Chileno (INACH).

Data Observatory
Data Observatory (DO) is a nonprofit, public-private-academia collaboration led by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation and the Ministry of Economy, created in alliance with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI). DO has the mission to acquire, process, store, and provide availability for high-quality and large volume datasets in order to contribute to the development of astroinformatics and artificial intelligence initiatives that seek to promote knowledge, science and innovation. DO performs as one of the structural axis regarding the national policy on artificial intelligence.
